Our goats play a huge role in our business and our family.
At Groovy Goat, we have a small herd of purebred Nubian goats.
Our goats are very lovingly cared for. They are hand milked twice daily and we are usually milking anywhere from four to six goats at a time. Each goat can produce up to four litres of milk per day, giving us more than enough milk to make all the soap we need!
Our friendly goats love visitors so, if you are in the Ingonish area, be sure to stop by for a farm experience the whole family will enjoy!
Groove with the goats
While visiting Groovy Goat, why not check out our petting farm located directly behind our soap shop and gelateria? There is no entrance fee for our petting farm – admission is by donation only which goes directly to maintenance and operation of the farm.
Take a stroll out to our goat enclosure to experience the sights and sounds (and smells!) of a farm firsthand. Wander into our newly constructed barn to visit our goats, babydoll sheep, chickens, ducks, and donkeys. If you luck out and are here at the right time, you might even be able to meet a newborn goat kid and try your hand at bottle feeding! Our goats LOVE treats and will eat them (very gently!) right out of your hand! Feel free to feed them some long grass too! We have a public washroom facility on-site and lots of areas outdoors to relax or play. A perfect place for family fun, rain or shine!
You will surely enjoy observing our animals’ quirky behavior! If you have any questions, a staff member is always close by and waiting for an opportunity to chat about our groovy goats. Don’t forget your camera as there are bound to be some great photo opportunities!
Petting farm is open during store hours only (9:00am – 8:00pm in July and August/ 9:30am- 5:30 pm most of the rest of the year).
Goat Yoga
Goat yoga is planned around the birth of our goat kids and usually takes place in late spring or early summer when the kids are still playful (and small!) enough to participate.
Our classes our hosted by a certified yoga instructor and are designed for all ability levels (beginners are welcome!) These classes have limited spots and tend to book up quickly, so be sure to get your ticket early when classes become available!
